E-lab network workshop on 3D printing

10th July 2019

Hands-on 3D printing workshop presented by Swedish company Cellink and Karolinska Institutet

On 18 May, the Stockholm E-Lab network invited students and professionals to a hands-on workshop on 3D printing and its applications in Healthcare at Karolinska Institutet. Students were able to experiment with the available 3D printers and understand their benefits within healthcare

The “lagom” crowd of students, mainly from healthcare related MSc programmes, present at the workshop, and gained inspiration by the many opportunities that the 3D printing technology offers within healthcare. To add further value, Daniel Lidberg from the Swedish company Cellink was invited to illustrate how 3D printing is used for tissue engineering.

Cecilie Hilmer, Stockholm E-lab project manager at the Unit of Bioentrepreneurship at Karolinska Institutet and organiser of the event, is satisfied with this teaser event that is part of the greater objective of the E-lab network which is to learn through hands-on experience, to develop and provide educational tools for innovation and to spread an entrepreneurial mindset.

Cecilie plans to organise an additional 3D printing event during the fall but this time the aim will be to dive deeper into the topic, and allow students, entrepreneurs, and professionals to explore how 3D printing technology could benefit their own projects.
