Dear EIT Health friends,

This time I would like to start with introduction of our new COO – Agnes Majorossy, who joins EIT Health InnoStars in September. With over 25 years of professional experience in international organisations as an Internal Auditor, Agnes will empower our team of professionals, supporting organisation’s development in the InnoStars regions. Welcome on board Agnes!

We have been all working hard during this summer to prepare Autumn events, congresses and new business opportunities - Partners Assembly in Amsterdam, Think Tank Roundtable in Lisbon, EU-Med Summit in Lodz, EIT Health Matchmaking in Barcelona, to mention only few of them. Not only, I invite you to join our major events, where you can improve your networking, but also I enhance to check regularly our Calendar as well as Events & Opportunities section. On this occasion, I would like to recommend you the brand new Disrupt Me Programme, organised by EIT Hub in Israel. The Programme gives access to fresh, adoptable Israeli technologies that can provide a unique "leg up" in Europe.

It is worth to mention that the next BP 2021 Call is on our radar. We have been intensively analysing the last Call results. Firstly, there are more and more competitive projects within EIT Health. Secondly, we already know that the next year’s projects pool will be smaller. That is why we plan to start the preparation much earlier, knowing that there will be more time and efforts to be spent on learning how to build success stories. I believe that together with our excellent Partners we will prepare good and competitive projects.

I am also pleased to share with you the final results of Regional Innovation Scheme Innovation Call. The external evaluators committee selected top 12 projects from RIS regions that will receive support and grants for further development. We collected over 100 applications from 13 countries. The granted projects represent Big Data/cloud solutions (33%), new technologies (33%), mobile apps (17%) and wearable devices (17%). The most active was Slovenia – with over 20 projects submitted and 4 selected for grants. Warm congratulations to all winners!

Last but not least, we are also contented with great achievements of start-ups coming from InnoStars regions. Only during last month, two Portuguese start-ups were standing on podium of Start-ups Meet Pharma competition. The Greek start-up Synoesis got into a Gold Track, while the Polish start-up Genomtec was listed among top 10 European start-ups revolutionizing healthcare. We have much more such examples, showing that despite being progressing regions (according to EIS), we have a broad Talent Pool that conquer top European rankings and contests. We keep our fingers crossed for all teams that do their best in other ongoing accelerator and campus programmes.

Wish you all a soft landing after summer holidays.
See you soon during EIT Health events!
All the best,

Balazs Furjes | Managing Director EIT Health InnoStars
