The EIT Health Investor Network connects European health-oriented investors with promising start-ups to encourage cross-border financing and co-investments. The network brings private and institutional investors together with pre-screened high-potential start-ups, making it possible to leverage greater local and international funding at a faster pace. This is the first pan-European, EU-driven network for investors that is solely focused on financing healthcare innovation.
Important project dates
There are four calls during the year to attract start-ups: Early January, early March, the end of July and early October.
Is it for me?
Start-ups or SMEs participating in the programme must be registered and at minimum seed stage with public grants, and they must have raised a significant level of money. The Investor Network offers life sciences start-ups and SMEs in all stages of development various opportunities to reach out for funding.
If you are a private investor, representative of a business angel network, or representative of a venture capital or corporate venture fund, the Investor Network gives you the opportunity to screen and select start-ups that are seeking to raise funds and meet the properties of your portfolio.
The Investor Network connects start-ups to investors, to give start-ups access to funding, at anywhere from the Seed to Series-C funding rounds, and to give investors a chance to investigate pre-screened investments. This unique networking programme displays the funding needs of start-ups to a variety of private equity investors. It is also the first programme of its kind in Europe to offer a continuum of investment.
The programme has the ambition to leverage investment by creating a close-knit network of healthcare investors who know and trust each other, and who share the same ambition of bringing smart money to innovative European start-ups. As Europe’s leading programme to help innovative healthcare entrepreneurs, EIT Health is constantly vetting new start-ups, and providing support to the most promising ones. That means investors can be introduced to pre-selected start-ups, which have already undergone training and assistance in developing their business plans.
The Investor Network collaborates closely with other investment programmes within EIT Health such as the Crowdfunding Platform.
How it works
The Investor Network journey for start-ups begins with an application through the EIT Health Optimy platform. Upon approval, start-ups are invited to sign a Memorandum of Understanding that will give them access to a deal-flow-management platform, where they will upload their documents for review by our selected investors. Interested investors will contact them to ask for their information and to potentially begin a due diligence check. Start-ups will be invited to pitch via WebEx or in person, and can then proceed with individual negotiations.
If you are a European investor wishing to join the Investor Network, please contact the European network coordinator Caroline Sai at email@example.com.
