EIT Hub presented in Israel

New EIT Hub will be led by EIT Health and will involve 4 EIT Innovation Communities.

The establishment of the EIT Hub in Israel is expected to expand the EIT Community’s presence and volume of activities in the country in particular in the area of business support. On 17. June representatives of the EIT Community presented the upcoming activities of EIT Hub Tel Aviv to Israeli and EU organisations in Israel.

Hosted by the Ambassador of the EU Delegation in Israel, the event raised awareness and provided a platform for discussion regarding the role and activities of the EIT Hub as a bridge between the EU and Israeli innovation ecosystems. Emanuel Giaufret – Ambassador of the European Union Delegation in Israel welcomed Israeli and EU stakeholders at his Residence on the occasion of an awareness raising event about the upcoming joint EIT Community Hub in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Balazs Furjes – EIT Health InnoStars Managing Director (a coordinator of the programme on behalf of the EIT and participating KICs), together with Imre Hild – Project Manager of the Outreach Programme to Israel and Adi Barel – Manager of EIT Hub Tel Aviv presented the activities and collaboration opportunities for Israeli and EU stakeholders provided by the newly established Hub.

More than 50 participants – representatives of European enterprises who are already active in Israel, Israeli companies interested in European innovations, counterparts from public authorities, universities, research institutions and start-ups were present at the introduction of the EIT Hub programmes in Israel.

The first one, ‘Connect and experience’ is focused on training in the area of start-up development, while the second one, ‘Disrupt me’ brings together EU and Israeli companies in a deep matchmaking process. Both programmes will be launched soon as a pilot scheme. An innovation and entrepreneurial hotbed with a strong participation in Horizon 2020 programme, Israel has drawn the interest of EIT Health, EIT Food and EIT Urban Mobility which are present in the country through their Israeli partners.

The establishment of the EIT Hub in Israel is expected to expand the EIT Community’s presence and volume of activities in the country in particular in the area of business support. The EIT Innovation Communities involved in the cross-Innovation Community work in this location are: EIT Food, EIT Climate-KIC and the newly designated EIT Urban Mobility, led by EIT Health. The official opening of the office is anticipated for the winter of 2019.

This meeting was the first such an occasion to introduce more broadly the field of activities of EIT Health, including InnoStars regions. EIT Health is focused on promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and education in the domain of healthcare, healthy living and active ageing. With the new opportunities of EIT Outreach Programme to Israel, both great possibilities and new challenges are opening up for EIT Health, including InnoStars areas.
